About AGROECOLOGY EPrints

Agroecology Eprints (www.aeprints.org) is an international open-access repository that provides permanent access to agroecology research outputs. It facilitates communication within the agroecology community, enhances the dissemination and impact of research findings, and serves as a comprehensive record of agroecological research efforts worldwide.

Background

Agroecology Eprints (www.aeprints.org) has been developed as part of the Agroecology Partnership, funded by the European Commission (EC) under Horizon Europe – the European Union’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (Grant Agreement No. 101132349) and by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) (Grant Agreement No. 24.00166).

The Agroecology Partnership brings together more than 111 partners from over 31 countries, including European Union Member States and associated third countries. Its mission is to accelerate the transition towards sustainable farming systems through the development and support of agroecology Living Labs and Research Infrastructures.

The Agroecology Partnership started on 1st of January 2024 and will continue until 31st of December 2033.

Editors

Editorial management and quality control of Agroecology Eprints are currently carried out jointly by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and the International Centre for Research in Organic Food Systems (ICROFS), Denmark. While AEPrints does not yet have a network of national editors, such a network is planned as the repository expands.

National editors will serve as local contact points within participating countries, promote the use of Agroecology Eprints, support contributors, and assist with the review and curation of content in national languages and country-specific contexts. A contact list of national editors will be made available once the network has been established.

Main Objectives

The main objectives of Agroecology Eprints are to:

• facilitate communication and knowledge exchange within the agroecology research community;
• improve dissemination, visibility, and impact of agroecology research findings;
• document and preserve agroecological research outputs and activities.

To achieve these objectives, Agroecology Eprints is designed as an international open-access repository that supports collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cooperation across countries, institutions, and disciplines.

Agroecology Eprints supports the principles of Open Science and promotes the FAIR principles for research outputs and metadata, ensuring that information is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. To facilitate the responsible sharing and reuse of research outputs, contributors are encouraged, where appropriate, to apply open licences such as Creative Commons licences to deposited materials.

Agroecology Eprints supports the long-term preservation and discoverability of agroecology knowledge through persistent records, open metadata, and internationally recognised repository standards.

Agroecology Eprints Repository Policy

The repository accepts both published and unpublished materials, including scientific papers, presentations, theses, reports, articles, videos, and project descriptions. The main criteria for accepting submissions are their relevance to agroecology, their suitability for communication, and the completeness and accuracy of the required metadata. All languages are supported. To improve international discoverability, contributors are strongly encouraged to provide an English title, abstract, and keywords when the original language is not English.

Metadata (e.g. author, title, date) are freely accessible to all users. Documents may be downloaded, stored, printed, and reused in accordance with the licence and access conditions associated with each item. Users are encouraged to cite and link to repository records whenever possible, as these provide persistent access to the latest version of a resource.
