Summary
The Estonian University of Life Sciences participates in an international project whose main objective is to promote and support the development of diversified organic food systems, covering all the links of the field-to-plate system. During the project, local Agroecology Living Laboratories (ALLs) should be established and, based on these, a transnational ALL network. The network will include researchers, both organic and conventional producers, as well as agro-processors, advisors, consumers and policy makers.
The Estonian ALL is based on a long-term rotation experiment at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, which studies the effects of rotation diversification with winter cover crops in different systems on different soil properties (including carbon sequestration), biodiversity, crop yields and crop quality.
